It’s not that Don Miguel Ruiz and his son, Don Jose Ruiz, talk about anything new. It isn’t that our first hearing of ‘the four agreements’ or even adding ‘the fifth’ is some kind of a new assignment for our life. It isn’t that they have come up with something counter to or additional to what other Wayshowers, spiritual masters who have taught on earth, have had to say and demonstrate through their lives. The value of the two generations of Ruiz boys’ five agreements seems to be that their practice invites us and then shows us how to break the thousands of limiting agreements we have already made with ourselves and others. What’s left is likely the five agreements they suggest for our practice.
1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don’t take anything personally.
3. Don’t make assumptions.
4. Always do your best.
5. Be skeptical, but learn to listen.
So, whether these ‘agreements’ are new to you or this is your first encounter with them, come on Sunday at 10:00 and see how they–along with the music, meditation, prayer, and spirit of those gathered–offer us the opportunity for unfathomable force of life and unconditional love to take action and be born once more in our hearts.
Then fill your plate with First Sunday Brunch offerings and add to it 45 minutes of Resta Burnham’s ‘Intro to A Course In Miracles’. After all, a change of perspective might just be all you need!!!
Blessing and peace,
