“XTREME WORLD: The Dream of Violence” will be the topic for A Course in Miracles class on Thursday September 25, 7 p.m. at The Church Within. Our discussion will focus on the question: How do we walk peacefully in a world that seems to be so violent?
W-pII.249.1. Forgiveness paints a picture of a world where suffering is over, loss becomes impossible and anger makes no sense. Attack is gone, and madness has an end. What suffering is now conceivable? What loss can be sustained?
W-pII.249.2. Father, we would return our minds to You. We have betrayed them, held them in a vise of bitterness, and frightened them with thoughts of violence and death. Now would we rest again in You, as You created us.
NOTE: There will be no ACIM class on Thursday Oct 2.
“I WILL THERE BE LIGHT” is the topic for A Course in Miracles class at The Church Within, 7 p.m. on Thursday September 18. We will explore will and willingness, and the places in our lives where we hide our unwillingness to awaken from the dream of suffering.
“My role is only to unchain your will and set it free. Your ego cannot accept this freedom, and will oppose it at every possible moment and in every possible way.” ACIM
NOTE: There will be a group just finishing up when you arrive at church. Depending on where they are in the process, we may need to meet in the Celebration Room.
NOTE2: There will be no ACIM class on October 2, as I will be having oral surgery the day before.
The subject for A Course in Miracles class on Thursday September 11, 7 p.m. at The Church Within:
“DECONSTRUCTING OUR CONSTELLATIONS”.
The class will be about perception and judgment. Just as a constellation such as the Big Dipper in the night sky is just a handful of the thousands of stars we can see with the naked eye, so do we characterize people and events on the basis of a handful of moments and think we have perceived the truth about them.
Comments by Becky: Last week’s Miracles class was a great reminder that we see what we choose to see…in the world, in other people, in ourselves. The Course says “Change but this focus and what you behold will change accordingly….(and)…If you feel the Love of God within you, you will look out on a world of mercy and of love.” For me this requires mindfulness and a commitment to listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit all the time. It is so easy to get caught up in the drama of life and forget.
“MIRROR, MIRROR” will be the topic for A Course in Miracles class on Thursday September 4, 7 p.m. at The Church Within as we join in gazing into the mirror of our minds — the people, feelings, events, situations and things that make up our perceptual world. “Your brother is the mirror in which you see the image of yourself as long as perception lasts.. He. .is the mirror of yourself, wherein you see the judgment you have laid on both of you. The Christ in you beholds his holiness. Your specialness looks on his body and beholds him not.”
