ACIM canceled 1-16
Because the roads are so icy, the Course in Miracles class for Thursday, January 16 is canceled.
OF COURSE 12/28/13
Hi All,
I just learned that our beloved Kenneth Wapnick, head of the Foundation for A Course in Miracles, died yesterday, December 27. The ACIM class next Thursday night, January 2, 7 p.m. at The Church Within will be devoted to remembering Ken and the many ways he has touched our lives. It is titled:
“Singing In The Key of Love: Remembering Kenneth Wapnick”
Helen Schucman, scribe of the Course and Kenneth’s close friend, wrote this poem for and about him:
Continuity
Your life is like a jewel in the crown.
The glowing light that Jesus promised me
When my own little light is laid aside.
Except your light is there my crown would be
A thing of time, to end as all things must,
Without an echo in eternity.
When comets pass they leave a path of light
Behind their going. It is this the sky
Remembers afterwards. We speak of Him
Who came in glory and Who seemed to die.
Yet in our light He lives again, and we
Must trail His shining likeness going by.
You are the light that stays behind a while
To bring His stillness and His peace to all
Who seek for Him in sorrow. In His Name
You will remain to answer to their call;
To sing to sleepless children and to raise
To His unfailing patience those who fall.
He waits for me as I will wait for you,
Standing with Him. In your unclouded sight
The world will vanish. Now He leans to you
And lifts you to your home. Behold how bright
The crown He has for you. Come now, my child
And disappear with me into His light.
In the Foundation’s announcement of Kenneth’s passing, these lines from the Course were quoted:
“There is no death. The Son of God is free.” (W-pI.163)
“Teach not that I died in vain. Teach rather that I did not die by demonstrating that I live in you.” (T-11.VI.7:3-4)
Love and blessings,

Of Course 11-14-13 by Resta Burnham
The topic for A Course in Miracles class on Thursday, November 14 is:
“BEAUTIFUL DREAMER”
7 p.m. at The Church Within
We will take a look at the basic Course teachings about the world as a dream of one sleeping mind, and the process of shifting from identifying ourselves as helpless dream figures that suffer and die to remembering that we are the dreamer of the dream, forever one with our Source.
“You are the dreamer of the world of dreams. No other cause it has, nor ever will. Nothing more fearful than an idle dream has terrified God’s Son, and made him think that he has lost his innocence, denied his Father, and made war upon himself. So fearful is the dream, so seeming real, he could not waken to reality without the sweat of terror and a scream of mortal fear, unless a gentler dream preceded his awaking, and allowed his calmer mind to welcome, not to fear, the Voice that calls with love to waken him; a gentler dream, in which his suffering was healed and where his brother was his friend. God willed he waken gently and with joy, and gave him means to waken without fear.” [T-27.VII.13.]
SCHEDULE NOTE: The next two Thursday classes — November 21 and December 5 — coincide with choir rehearsals. On these two nights choir rehearsal will begin at 6:30, while ACIM will begin at 7:30.
There will of course be no class on November 28, Thanksgiving Day.
No 10-31 ACIM
A Course in Miracles class will not meet on Thursday, October 31. Classes will resume on November 7.

OF COURSE 10-3-13 by Resta Burnham
The topic for A Course in Miracles class, Thursday October 3, 7 p.m. at The Church Within:
“MISS PERCEPTION, PERMIT ME TO INTRODUCE MISS TAKEN”
“You see what you expect, and you expect what you invite. Your perception is the result of your invitation, coming to you as you sent for it. Whose manifestations would you see? Of whose presence would you be convinced? For you will believe in what you manifest, and as you look out so will you see in. Two ways of looking at the world are in your mind, and your perception will reflect the guidance you have chosen.”[T-12.VII.5.]
We will be discussing our perceptions of the world and others and why we shouldn’t trust what our senses seem to show us.
NOTE: There will be no ACIM class on Thursday, October 10 (because of the play).
OF COURSE 9-18-13 by Resta Burnham
We often think that forgiveness demands releasing only the past and its assorted hurtful memories. However, if a shift (miracle) does not occur to undo guilt at the mind level, the painful past will continue to “cause” a painful future.
“Freeing The Future” will be the topic for A Course in Miracles class at The Church Within, 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013. From ACIM:
“Miracles are both beginnings and endings, and so they alter the temporal order. . They undo the past in the present, and thus release the future. .You can hold on to the past only through guilt. For guilt establishes that you will be punished for what you have done, and thus depends on one-dimensional time, proceeding from past to future.”
“The emphasis of this course always remains the same;–it is at this moment that complete salvation is offered you, and it is at this moment that you can accept it. This is still your one responsibility. Atonement might be equated with total escape from the past and total lack of interest in the future. Heaven is here. There is nowhere else. Heaven is now. There is no other time.”
