Scott Lakin, Board President
Scott joined the church in 2002, and was ordained in 2008.
He began serving as President of the Board 2016.
In addtion to the Board of Directors, Scott serves the church in prayer ministry, mediation, and song.
Betty Seno, Treasurer
Betty Seno grew up in western Pennsylvania, where most of her family still lives. She moved to Indianapolis in 1973, and, apart from a three-year stint in England, she has called Indianapolis home since that time. Betty has three grown children and a grandson, and has been married to David Barnard since 2008.
Betty has been a member of The Church Within since 1996. She currently serves as the church treasurer and also heads up the finance committee. Betty has been a greeter for many years, and was in charge of the greeter program for about seven years. She volunteers frequently for special activities and events at church, and she is a regular attendee at Thursday evening’s A Course in Miracles class.
After 25 years as an elementary school teacher, Betty retired in 2010. Now her days are filled with volunteering (especially at TCW), studying and teaching A Course in Miracles, reading, walking, hiking, traveling, visiting with family and friends, and sometimes just being lazy.
Angela Leddy, Secretary
Don Stone, Head Trustee
Don graduated from Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis, married his wife Jacki and began a 20 year career with the US Postal Service. Feeling unfulfilled, he embarked on a career in customer service, first with the Federal Information Center. Subsequently, he entered the world of insurance, eventually retiring as a Property Adjuster.
Don has been a member of The Church Within since 2009 and had been involved in the past with preparing and serving meals at Fletcher Place Community Center through TCW’s outreach program. Don joined the board in 2016 and currently serves as Trustee. He and Jacki have two children.
Kelsie Stringham-Marquis, Children’s Church Director
Kelsie has been attending The Church Within since 2014, and began volunteering as the Children’s Church Director in September of 2015. She is a former employee of Horizon House, where she dedicated herself to serving our homeless neighbors for five and a half years. She left that position to become a stay-at-home mom to Matilda and a full time student pursuing a Master’s of Public Administration with a focus on Non-profit Management.
She is married to Danny Stringham-Marquis, who you may see sitting in with the musicians on Sunday or bouncing Matilda in the back of church during service.
David was born in Indianapolis and has lived in several states before returning to live in 1980. he served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967, has four children and eight grandchildren, and has been married to Betty Seno since 2008.
David has been a member of the Church Within since 1997, was ordained as a minister at The Church Within in 2000, and has also served the church as a greeter since 2000. He also volunteers in the kitchen at Fletcher Place Community Center two times a month.
He retired in 2010 with a work history of being a finance manager and an auditor. David is a race walker, having participated in four Indy 500 Mini Marathon over the past several years as well as other mini marathons. He’s also a FIFA soccer referee. His interests include A Course In Miracles, soccer, hiking, and road trips.
Beth became a member of TCW in November of 2013 and started attending TCW a couple of months before joining. This is her first year on the board.
Beth was born and raised in north east Indiana outside of Fort Wayne. After college she moved to Texas for 20 years and returned to Indiana in 2010. She has 2 sisters, and is the oldest.
She loves being outdoors, hiking and photographing nature and animals. she loves to volunteer and give back to the community. She also enjoys reading and doing puzzles.
Beth is a veterinary technician and absolutely loves her job. she have worked with animals all of her life. She’s involved with 4 different professional organizations – the president of 2 organizations, treasurer of another, and a board member of the fourth.
